AP Sankranthi specials: Air show in Vijayawada, Beach Festival in Kakinada
Amaravati: The spectacular air show in Vijayawada and the NTR Beach Festival at Kakinada keep the people of coastal districts busy for the three-day Pongal festival this year.
Both started on January 12 at their respective places and the events are drawing thousands of people to have their evenings packed with full entertainment and amusement.
The air show that was inaugurated by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at the Punnami Ghat on the banks of River Krishna is first of its kind in the State after bifurcation in 2014. Thousands of people are thronging the venue to have a glimpse of the show as the pilots play with the aircraft in the air. Drawn specially from the UK, the pilotsa�� aerial acrobatics have come free for the people, mostly for children, to watch the greatest ever event in the State. Thousands of people have witnessed the show on the first day at the Punnami Ghat and the adjacent Bhavani Ghat.
The AP Tourism had also organised water sports in the River Krishna to grab the occasion and draw the attention of the visitors towards boating rides it is organising. The well-trained boat operators have performed well entertaining the onlookers. The visitors were also taken on the boats at the end of the air show to give them the feel of the evening ride in the river water.
The NTR Beach Festival organised at Kakinada beach was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Nimmakayala Chinarajappa. The beach is thrown open to the people to have a taste of Telugu culture in this festive season. Besides the beach, the prestigious Hope Island too is thrown open to the visitors during the festival. Special arrangements have been made at the beach and a visit to the Hope Island is a big draw.
A wide range of cultural programmes are also being organised during the beach festival to keep the visitors entertained. The festival is all set to be an annual event as it had won the hearts of the people of the two Godavari districts.
