AP Minister Terms Nandyala By-Poll As Referendum

AP Minister Kollu Ravindra terms the Nandyala by-election as referendum on Chandrababu Naidu’s government.

Machilipatnam: Andhra Pradesh Minister for Law and Justice and Youth Affairs Kollu Ravindra has termed the Nandyala by-election as a referendum on the state government.

While claiming that the election would be in favour of the TDP, the minister reiterated that the developmental initiatives of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu during the last three years would help in the TDP winning the by-election.

Ravindra said Chandrababu Naidu has developed the state after bifurcation, and the fruits of the development are visible even for the Nandyala voters.

Ravindra’s claim of referendum has turned the election more interesting with the YSR Congress taking it as a challenge. The YSR Congress leaders also welcomed the minister’s claim and want the TDP leadership to accept the defeat ahead of the election.

The minister drew parallel between Chandrababu Naidu and Jagan Mohan Reddy calling Naidu as a visionary and a leader of people, while terming Jagan as corrupt and criminal leading a faction in the name of a party. He took exception to the remarks of Jagan Mohan Reddy against Chandrababu Naidu and said that people who have been watching Jagan would teach a fitting lesson in the by-election.

People in the state are scared of voting for Jagan Mohan Reddy as the Rayalaseema faction politics would spread to every district, he said.

“While Naidu is spreading development, Jagan will spread the faction politics. If Naidu continues in power, the villages and towns in the state would get industries and infrastructure. But, if Jagan comes to power, the villages would get guns and bombs,” the minister claimed and said that people have understood this equation in 2014 and have voted Chandrababu Naidu.

Ravindra asserted that there was no scope of Jagan Mohan Reddy coming to power, as he has been dreaming. He sought to advise Jagan and his leaders to indulge in day dreaming, while people and Chandababu Naidu would develop the state.

Ravindra said that the statements like “beat Naidu with slippers and brooms, kill Naidu on the road” expose the violent character of Jagan Mohan Reddy, which are not accepted by the people.

Jagan was in frustration as his party leaders were migrating to the TDP seeking development of their areas, the minister said. He said Jagan would be left only with a handful of faction leaders after the Nandyala by-election, as the remaining MLAs in YSR Congress were getting ready to join the TDP.
