AP Mahila Congress holds protest against LPG hike
Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh Mahila Congress here on Thursday held a novel protest against the increase in the LPG prices. Led by the Mahila Congress president Sunkara Padmasri, the activists carried the effigy of the BJP-led NDA government at the Center and the LPG cylinder and set the effigy on fire.
Padmasri criticised the BJP government for increasing the cooking gas price after demonetization. She said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Arun Jaitely have claimed that the prices would come down in the country after demonetization. However, the prices were going up alarmingly, she said and blamed the government for its failures to keep the prices under control.

She recalled that the Congress chief minister late Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy had given Rs 50 subsidy on cylinder when the government increased the prices in the past. She said that the women across the country would curse the Prime Minister if he failed to withdraw the hike.
