AP Legislative Council Chairman Accepts Silpa Chakrapani Reddy’s Resignation

The Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council accepted the resignation of Silpa Chakrapani Reddy, who submitted it after joining the YSRCP; however, the petition filed by the YSRCP asking for disqualification of MLAs who crossed the floor is still pending.

The Deputy Chairman of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council has accepted the resignation of MLC Silpa Chakrapani Reddy in just ten days.

It may be recalled that Silpa Chakrapani Reddy, the brother of Silpa Mohan Reddy, who is contesting on YSRCP ticket for Nandyal by-poll resigned for his post and joined the YSRCP.  After leaving the TDP and joining the YSRCP, Chakrapani Reddy, committing to his moral values, has resigned for the post of MLC.

Chakrapani Redy resigned to the position based on the advice given by the YSRCP Chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy to adhere to the constitutional values.  It may be recalled that most of the MLAs who won on the YSRCP ticket and joined the TDP are still continuing in their posts.

The TDP government has been facing a lot of criticism for not making the MLAs who joined the TDP to resign to their posts.

On the other hand, the petition filed by the YSRCP demanding to disqualify MLAs who defied people’s verdict and joined the TDP is still pending.  While keeping this petition pending, the Legislative Council chairman has accepted his resignation.
