AP IAS Officers Counter Pawan On TTD EO Row
Amaravati: IAS officers from Andhra Pradesh have objected to criticism by Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan over the appointment of a north Indian as Executive Officer of Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanams. “Drawing a line between north and south is not correct. IAS officers are all India officers and they work anywhere and everywhere in the country” the Association of IAS officers in its reaction posted on twitter account.
The body said Anil Kumar Singhal who was posted as EO of TTD is an AP-cadre officer and was not dumped from anywhere. It was the prerogative of the state government to decide on postings and the officers simply obey the orders, it said.
Veteran actor Mohan Babu has also faulted Pawan Kalyan on the appointment saying that there is no rule as such that only a person from a particular region shall be appointed.
“He is a sincere officer with a lot of integrity. He is an Andhra cadre officer, working as collector in various Telugu districts. I know him very well. I extend all my support to him as the EO of the TTD,” Mr Mohan Babu said.
“I strongly condemn such comments. It is not proper to restrict Lord Venkateshwara Swamy to a particular region or language. What is wrong in a non-Telugu speaking officer being appointed as TTD EO? Don’t look at his language, look at his administration,” Mohan Babu said.
The TDP and the BJP have already criticized Pawan for his comments. Mr Varla Ramaiah, senior functionary of TDP said that the party would not tolerate each and every diatribe that the Jana Sena chief makes.
