AP govt renames SC, ST sub-plans
Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh Scheduled Castes Sub-Plan and Tribal Sub-Plan Act will now be called as the SC, ST Sustainable and Inclusive Development Fund. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu took these decisions in the 4th Meeting of State Council for Development of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
During the meeting the Chief Minister reviewed the progress and implementation of the decisions taken during the 3rdMeeting of the State Council. “Our aim is to increase the happiness and satisfaction levels among the SC’s and ST’s. Our funds should be used in that direction”, the Chief Minister said.
The Chief Minister has asked the officials to understand the overall financial situation of the SC and ST families and thereby draft an action plan to further improve and enhance their living standards.
The Sub-Plan funds allocated for that year should be spent in the same financial year the Chief Minister said.
The Chief Minister said that all basic facilities should be setup in all the SC colonies. Anganwadi centers, schools, stadiums and burial grounds should be built said the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister said that the 125 –feet tall Ambedkar statue should be completed by next year, and the Ambedkar Smriti Vanam which is being built on a 15-acre site at Amaravati should be completed by December 2018.
The meeting also approved a study circle at a cost of Rs 5 crore and Girijan Bhavans in all the 13 districts at a total cost of Rs 1.35 crore. The government would also construct 20 Ambedkar Bhavans in the State at a cost of Rs 40 crore. A green field stadium will come up at Rampachodavaram with a cost of Rs 2.50 core and another Rs 2.50 core for establishing Tribal Sports School at Aruku.
