AP Cong to hold State-level meeting on Feb 20 to review TDP, BJP performance
Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee would hold a State- level meeting at Andhra Rathna Bhavan here on February 20 to discuss the special package that was agreed to by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in place of Special Category Status.
APCC president N Raghuveera Reddy said that the meeting would discuss the merits and demerits of demonetization, special package, Indira Gandhia��s birth centenary celebrations falling this year, the proposed motor cycle rally and the partya��s strategy for the impending MLC elections in the State.
Congress presidents from the 13 districts, urban unitsa�� presidents, members of the partya��s panel on demonetization would participate in the meeting. Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council, C Ramachandraiah, party senior leaders from the State and AICC leaders would join the deliberations, he added.
Raghuveera Reddy accused the BJP government at the Center of ruining the countrya��s economy and the lives of crores of people by demonetization. He said that the government had failed to supply small notes when the bigger denomination notes were withdrawn overnight. People across the country were put to several hardships due to demonetization, he said and alleged that the BJP government had totally destroyed the countrya��s economy.
He also alleged that the BJP government had helped several top business houses in the country by allowing them to exchange currency notes before demonetization. The BJP leaders and those associated with the ruling party have benefited from the demonetization while the people have suffered, he said.
The APCC leader also blamed the BJP government for going back on the promise of Special Category Status to the State and pushing forward the special package. He said that the BJP leaders have betrayed the people of the State by denying the Special Category Status. He reiterated that the Congress would continue to fight for Special Category Status.
He blamed the TDP government for mortgaging the interests of the State by accepting the special package. He alleged that the ruling TDP-BJP combine was trying to loot the exchequer in the name of package. The Congress would expose the hidden agenda of the TDP government in accepting the special package and take the issue to the people, he said.
