AP CM lays foundation for Pattiseema project
HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today asserted that Polavaram project would be completed in four years at any cost.

Laying the foundation stone for Pattiseema project near Polavaram, Chandrababu Naidu alleged that YSR Government had got canals dug up for commissions only. The TD Government, with peoplea��s support from Godavari districts and Anantapur will address their issues, he said. He also declared that it was his dream to supply irrigation waters to every acre in West Godavari district. He also said Polavaram project will be completed in four years with the help of the Centre.
On completion, the Pattiseema project would provide drinking water to Rayalaseema region. a�?We surpassed all hurdles to complete the project without using a single drop of water supposed to be given to Godavari districtsa�?, he remarked. The AP Government is indebted to Godavari districts, which are more important for him than his home district Chittoor, he said. The Government will divert and make proper use of the Godavari waters from going waste into the sea for domestic use and crops, he remarked.
The Centre made it clear that it was not negligent on the Polavarm project, he said. Exuding confidence that drought will be routed out by linking Godavari, Krishna and Penna rivers, he said the government launched prestigious Neeru- Chettua�? (Water-Tree) program for increasing groundwater table through harnessing rain water.
The Government is committed to keep its promise of completing irrigation projects and cater to irrigation needs, he declared. Chandrababu asserted that injustice will not be done to Godavari districts and efforts will be made to lift waters beyond 14 mt height. He also said despite getting Rs 15,000-crore loss after State bifurcation, the AP Government kept its promise of crop loan waiver. A plan is on cards to set up Marine University in Godavari districts, he said, adding that agriculture sector will be made a sector to reap in benefits and ensure procurement of paddy at MSP. (NSS)
