AP Assembly Secretary Satyanarayana Out, Ramacharyulu To Take Over?
Amaravati: In the light of increasing controversies surrounding Assembly incharge secretary K Satyanarayana Rao, the Andhra Pradesh government had reportedly decided to relieve him from the incharge post. He would be replaced by Pattabhi Parasurama Kesava Ramacharyulu, popularly known as P P K Ramacharyulu is now additional secretary to the Rajya Sabha. It is said that Ramacharyulu was already relieved from his Rajya Sabha responsibilities and had reached Amaravati to take the new assignment. As Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is in New Delhi, Ramacharyulu will have to wait for a couple of days to take the new charge.
Satyanarayana Rao, who is said to have been handpicked by Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao for the post landed in controversies as he had no required qualifications to hold the post. YSR Congress legislator from Mangalagiri, Alla Ramakrishna Reddy had raised the issue and had even gone to the court seeking Satyanarayana’s removal from the post. He had also sought the educational qualifications of Satyanarayana through the Right to Information Act. As the government failed to provide the information about the educational qualifications of Satyanarayana, the court had penalised the government, sources said.
It is alleged that Satyanarayana has been actively associated with the ruling Telugu Desam Party and was responsible for the denial of right to the YSR Congress MLAs and MLCs in both the Houses. It is mostly on his advice that the Speaker of the Assembly and the Chairman of the Council conduct the proceedings of the two Houses. The YSR Congress is angry with Satyanarayana Rao for recommending one year suspension of MLA R K Roja and recommending further extension of the suspension.
Alla Ramakrishna Reddy, who has been fighting a legal battle against Satyanarayana’s continuation had intensified his battle keeping in view the impending elections to the President of India. As Secretary of the Assembly, Satyanarayana would conduct the elections from Assembly and Council for the Presidential elections and it is for this reason that the MLA had intensified his legal battle forcing the government to drop him.
