Amit Shah To Address A Big Meet At Vijayawada
Amaravati: Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah will address a massive gathering of 75,000 booth level committee members on April 25. He would arrive in the city concluding his three-day tour in Telangana State.
The BJP leaders have finalised the schedule for Shahas visit and are now searching for a suitable place for the mega event. The party leaders claim that they have already constituted committees for 21,000 polling booths out of the total of 42,165 in the State. The party is now making arrangements to complete formation of the booth level committees for another 3,000 in the next three weeks taking the number of booth committees to 25,000. The Shahas meeting would have three members from every booth level committee, the party leaders said.
While Shahas Telangana tour is seen as the partyas attempt to consolidate its presence in Telangana hitting at the ruling TRS government. The BJP in Telangana is giving a tough fight to the TRS government as Opposition and its MLAs are now under suspension from the Assembly because of unfriendly attitude. The BJP leadership thus wants to consolidate its place in the State pulling away from its ally a TDP. Interestingly, the relationship between TDP and BJP has not been going well in TS as the two parties are maintaining distance. The TDP is now getting closer to the Congress in fighting against the TRS government. If the present trend is seen, there is all likelihood of the TDP teaming up with the Congress along with the Left parties for the 2019 elections. It is for this reason, the BJP wants to maintain distance with the TDP in TS and Shahas tour is set to help the party to reach this target.
When the BJP chief enters AP on April 25, the party wants to project its strength here to the ruling TDP, which is playing a big brother role in alliance. In Andhra Pradesh politics, it is the TDP-led alliance for the BJP with Chandrababu Naidu playing the lead role. However, the BJP, which is the big brother in the national politics is not comfortable with Naidu playing big brother in AP. The BJP wants to maintain its lead in NDA even in AP politics and that is possible only if the party improves its base.
It is towards this target that the BJP in Andhra Pradesh began marching forward forming the booth level committees. The party wants to complete the exercise in the next two to three months. Besides Shahas visit to the State in the third week of this month, the BJP national executive is slated for three days from August 25 at Visakhapatnam. This would be the time for the BJP to create a positive impact in State politics and the leaders in the State are working on these lines.
