Akali sarpanch, son assault pregnant nurse
Moga: Punjab’s ruling Akali Dal leader and his son have been caught on camera viciously attacking and slapping a five-month pregnant nurse, allegedly because they were asked to wait their turn. The nurse was slapped so hard that she fell to the ground at the hospital in Moga.
The Akali leader, Paramjit Singh, husband of Akali sarpanch Daljit Kaur and his son Gurjit Singh came to the hospital along with a patient and asked nurse to get the patient admitted without delay.
According to media reports, the altercation between the two sides broke out when Paramjeet Singh and his son were asked to wait for two minutes so that she could call the doctor. Then they abused, and thrashed her.
“He started abusing me, saying “You don’t know me. I am an Akali sarpanch” she stated in her first-information report (FIR).
“After that, Gurjeet pushed me and when I tried to resist, both the sarpanch and his son thrashed me. I received internal injuries,” she stated.
Both the father and son have been booked under sections 451 (house trespass to commit an offence), 323 (punishment for causing hurt voluntarily), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), and 34 (common intent in crime) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The video was widely shared on internet, shows Mr Singh and his son shoving and slapping the nurse.
