Ailing Jayalalitha puts thumb impression on poll affidavit
Chennai: The document of election affidavit of the party nominee, filed by an AIADMK candidate for a by-poll for Thirupparankundram constituency, showed Jayalalithaa’s thumb impression in place of signature. Thumb impression was also used in the designated place of signature in the document submitted to the Chief Electoral Officer on AIADMK’s official candidate for the by-election.
In a communication, a professor from Madras Medical College has authenticated her signature stating that she is unable to put signature because of inflammation on the right hand after undergoing tracheotomy surgery.
Recently, expelled party MP Sasikala has expressed fears over misuse of thumb impression without the chief minister’s knowledge and urged the authorities concerned to check Jayalalithaa’s thumb impression for its authenticity.
