Ahead Of By-Poll, CM Offers Sops To Muslims
Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has announced sops for the Muslim community.
Naidu flagged off the first batch of Muslim pilgrims heading for Makkah. He said his government would build two Haj Houses, at Amaravati and Kadapa, with Rs 12 crore each and Urdu University in Kurnool. He claimed that the government has allocated Rs 2,844 crore for the welfare of the Muslims in the state.
Above all, Naidu has announced that the post of the chairman of the AP legislative council would be given to the Muslims. Naidu has already made former Minister NMd Farooq from Nandyal as MLC ahead of the by-election and in all probability the chief minister intends to give the Council chairman post to him, as a gift for the Muslims of Nandyal.
Naidu’s government has not given representation to the Muslims in his cabinet and is now planning to compensate it with the Council chairman post.
The chief minister also announced that his government is spending Rs 100 crore for the marriage of poor Muslim girls in the state.
While seeing off the Haj pilgrims, the chief minister took advantage of the situation to win over the Muslims ahead of the August 23 by-election. It is to be seen if the Muslims of Nandyal would be happy to vote for Naidu with the welfare programmes he has announced.
