AAP poll sweep reflects people’s aspirations: JP
HYDERABAD: Lok Satta national president Dr Jayaprakash Narayan said the results of Delhi Assembly elections reflected the changing aspirations of the people who were seeking development, employment opportunities and good governance by ending politics of loot and of rich, autocratic dynasties.
Congratulating the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief for his landslide victory over the BJP and Congress, JP stated Mr. Arvind Kejriwal convinced the people that he could provide a corrupt-free and transparent government. With this, the nation is now witnessing fourth generation of politics represented by the Lok Satta and AAP.
He said that though the AAP had come to power for the second time, it had to acquire the shape of a political party to focus on welfare and development by providing complete security, amenities, corruption-free governance and a hassle-free regime.
However, JP found fault with Prime Minister Narendra Modi for jumping into the BJP’s campaign in the Delhi Assembly elections which were similar to municipal elections. He said as people elected Narendra Modi to head the country, he should strive for economic growth and rapid development and not to seize power of municipal and Assemblies through elections at all levels. “The Centre and BJP should now support the empowerment of local governments, new political trends”, he stated.
He suggested that the Congress should understand at least now that matured politics did not require politics of dynasty, business and money bags. (NSS)
