8 two-wheeler lifters arrested, 40 vehicles seized

Hyderabad: Medipally and Uppal police have arrested eight people for stealing 12 bikes under Uppal Police Station limits and 28 under Medipally limits.
The Rachakonda Police Commissioner, in a press note here on Friday, said the bike lifters were mainly students and private employees. Their modus operandi is to lift two-wheelers which are parked at busy centres on the Uppal and Medipally main roads by breaking open their locks.
The arrested were identified as: Baki Naveen alias Ditch Naveen, 19, a canteen worker; Rangu Uday, 19, mechanic; Kuttadi Mahesh, 19, auto driver; Dandamaina Rajasagar Reddy, 17, student; Rapolu Rohan Reddy, 17; Munnuru Naveen alias Nathi Naveen, 17, student; Voggu Nagaraju, 16, student; and Chinthala Rajasekhar, 27, laundry shop worker, the master lock-opener.
The Police Commissioner said that 40 two-wheelers were recovered from the accused who sold the stolen bikes in Ibrahimpatnam, Mothukur, Yadagirigutta, LB Nagar, Saroornagar, Tarnaka, Pochampally and other places.. He appealed to the general public not to purchase old vehicles sold by strangers without valid documents. If such persons come to their notice, they must immediately inform the nearest police station, he added. He also appealed to those driving vehicles to carry the vehicle documents along with them.
