60kg Gold Robbery Rocks Chennai
Chennai: 4-member burglars gang robbed 50 kg gold from a multi-storey complex at Palamkottai near Tiruneveli on Thursday night which rocked TN. Value of theft will be around 20 crores as per initial estimation by police.
Owner of the shop Alagar jewellers, Babu, who locked the shop on Thursday night was shocked to see entire gold was missing on Friday morning when he opened the shop.
As per preliminary investigation by the police,they came to a conclusion that burglars entered into the shop by cutting the roof of third floor.The theft took place when two security were at the door of front step.
Police are going through CCTV footage to find any identity of the gang. Burglars damaged CCTV in many places during their operation, but in some remote places CCTV were placed which cant be recognised by gang and police are trying to see the footage of these cameras to find out their identities.
Footage obtained by these CCTV’s show 4 men were involved in this robbery and two police teams were deployed to find out the gang. In 2015, similar incident happened with burglars looting 58 kgs of gold in Maharashtra on Nashik-Ghule Highway.
