18 Maoists Killed At AOB
- Police attack on meeting
Visakhapatnam: The Maoists suffered heavy casualties in the joint operation conducted by AP greyhounds and Odisha special police in Malkangiri district. As many as 18 Maoists are reported to have been killed in the encounter at Andhra-Odishaa Border. Member of the Maoist Party Central Committee, Mallesh, was reportedly killed in the operation carried out after meticulous planning. Four AK-47 rifles were recovered from the Maoists.
Gajarla Ravi, Chalapathy were reportedly among the dead. There was a meeting in the first week of October the reserved forest area near Chitrakonda in which fifty to one hundred leaders and cadres of the party were involved in the encounter. AP DGP Sambasivarao informed media persons on Monday morning. Search operations are in progress in the area, according to the police.
Top leader RK had reportedly escaped.
Varavararao said the police must have attacked while the meeting was in progress. It has to be described as an attack on the revolutionaries who were in a meeting. He said it is great loss to the Maoist movement.
