15-Lakh People Took The Holy Dip in Telangana: Indrakaran
- Orders more caution in the wake of Rajahmundry stampede
ADILABAD: Endowments Minister Indrakaran Reddy today announced that 15-lakh devotees from various places today took a holy dip on the first day in Telangana’s five districts.
Talking to the media here on Wednesday, the minister directed the officials to remain more cautious and ensured that no tragic incident had taken place at any of the five districts celebrating pushkaram festivities. Reddy expressed content on the pushkarghats planning and the turn up of the people to attend the pious Godavari Pushkaralu, conducted for the first time in the state of Telangana.
The minister maintained that the Telangana Government was put in place well in advance to avert any major incident. Keeping the tragic incident of stampede deaths of 27 persons at Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh on the first day, the officials in Telangana should be more cautious, he advised.
The minister reiterated that the people thronging pushkarghats should get hassle-free way for the holy dip and should take darshan of presiding deities at nearby temples.
He declared the number of devotees that had taken the holy dip at pushkarghats arranged district wise: Karimnagar 5,74,469, Adilabad 3,14,291, Khammam 3,04,610, Nizamabad 2,41,049 and Warangal 38,500.
He also directed the officials of five districts to provide all facilities to the people until July 25, when the pushkar festivities come to an end. (NSS)
